Dear Fellow Mesquite Home Owners

Yesterday, following the Annual Meeting of our association, my fellow directors asked me to serve as your President for the next year. I am humbled by the responsibility that comes with the honor. You have my commitment that I will do everything possible to achieve the four objectives I have set:

  1. Create unity and a cohesive TEAM spirit within the Board.
  2. Restore an effective working relationship with The Gaffney Group (TGG).
  3. Implement processes, policies and procedures so it doesn't matter who are the Board members, or who is the management company, MCCHOA will tick along smoothly.
  4. Restore the sense of community that once existed at Mesquite.

I cannot achieve those objectives on my own. I hope I can provide leadership to enable the TEAM to achieve the objectives. For me, TEAM means: Together Everyone Achieves More. In my view the TEAM exists in two parts. First there is the TEAM of Board members that you have elected to govern the Association. The Board can do their job best when the Management Company is an integrated full member. The second TEAM is the full membership of MCCHOA. We need each of you to give a small bit of your time and expertise to help us. Please contact the office, or any of the directors, to give us your contact information and how you would like to help.

The new Board has agreed that as we move forward we will rely on TGG to carry out the day to day business of the Association. The Board will focus on accountability by monitoring TGG to make sure that the business gets done as the Board believes it should be done. Each Board member will accept responsibility for a group of tasks that they will research or investigate so they are able to bring to the Board a set of options with a recommendation as to which option the Board member believes is best. Assistance with the research and investigation may be provided by staff from TGG and/or volunteer homeowners. This process will allow us to make best possible use of the precious time available from our volunteer Board members. It will also facilitate running Board Meetings efficiently and effectively.

In addition to myself, your new Board includes:

  • Lee Christiansen, Vice President
  • Ralph Ruder, Secretary
  • John Kingman, Treasurer
  • Bill Mueller, Director

Election results are posted under Special announcements. I would personally like to thank all of the candidates who put their names forth. For those who were not successful, I hope we can find other ways to use your talents.
